My name is Kari. I am wife to Tim, “Mama” to 4, and I’m a Christian- saved by grace.
I love old things, simple country living, farmhouse style, music from the 30s and 40s, old-fashioned skills, and gardening! My husband and I enjoy learning to grow more of our own food, raise chickens and a few cows and pigs for fresh beef and pork.
And, of course, I love to cook and bake! Serving delicious homemade food to my family and friends is something I enjoy very much.
My style is simple, comforting food done well, that is family-friendly, using more and more “real” foods.
I am learning to re-think what we eat, and trying to use less of the processed foods that are filled with chemicals and preservatives. People did not always rely on these foods! It’s time to get back to home-cooked meals that use real ingredients- and that’s what you will find on this blog.
Sometimes you might see that I do still use some ready-made ingredients, but my goal is to keep them to a minimum.
The recipes I share have been tested and approved by me and my family! If they don’t pass the test here at home, they won’t make it to the blog! I love eating and I want my food to taste good. I don’t like cutting corners or making substitutes that sacrifice the taste of my food. So, though the journey to more real food does require an open mind, since some foods will not taste just the same as the processed version, I do aim very high to add nutrition and whole foods without sacrificing the taste!
On this blog, the main focus is homemade food that YOU can make– but sometimes you will also see posts about raising chickens, and family life!
I hope you will find some new favorites for your family from this ever-growing collection of recipes, and I hope you find yourself making more and more foods, homemade!
May all I share be to the glory of God!
